Deep Fall: snow, frost and— veggies?! Yes, read how below.

While the farm is all buttoned up for winter, we have had a surprising amount of winter veggies. Temperatures repeatedly dropped into the teens. We even received snowfall last week. Yet, the fall veggies just keep coming! Thanks to the ingenuity of Maureen, one of the main helpers here at Harmony, we used two layers of frost cloth over conduit piping anchored deep into the soil and secured with extra large black paper clips. Chard, kale, baby lettuce varieties, dill and poppies are thriving despite low night temperatures.

We are likely going to be eating out of the garden for many weeks to come. Do you have a garden story? Please share with us by using the connect page.
